Building Permit Fee Schedule

Plan Review Fee Schedule

Residential Plans Review: $50.00

 

Commercial Plans Review: $75.00 for the first 5,000 square feet, plus $ .50 for each additional 1,000 square feet or fraction thereof.

 

Commercial Construction Permit Fee Schedule

​

 

$35.00 per first $1,000 of the total job cost. (Minimum fee $35.00)

 

$1,000.00 - $50,000.00: $35.00 for the first $1,000.00 plus $7.00 for each additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof to include $50,000.00.

 

$50,000.00 - $100,000.00: $385 for the first $50,000.00 plus $6.00 for each additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof to include $100,000.00.

 

$100,000.00 - $500,000.00: $685.00 for the first $100,000.00 plus $5.00 for each additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof to include $500,000.00.

 

$500.000.00 and up: $2,685.00 for the first $500,000.00 plus $4.00 for each additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof.

Electrical Permit Fee Schedule

Street Cut Permit

Permit based on project description. Must contact Public Works for further details.

 

Sign Permit

​

 

$35.00 per $1,000.00 of cost of sign & installation, plus $10.00 for each additional $1,000.00. (Minimum fee $35.00)

 

Burn Permits

Note: Burn Permits are issued by the city's Fire Department. Call 205-274-2752 for more information.

 

Driveway Permits

​

Driveway Permits are issued by the city's Public Works Department. Generally, separate driveway permits are not issued, please contact us at 205-274-2150 for information concerning this type of permit. If a driveway accesses a state, county, or federal highway, then appropriate approvals must be obtained. In addition, if the application is for access to a State of Alabama or U.S. highway, the Alabama Department of Transportation will be involved in the approval process.
