Oneonta City Council

The Oneonta City Council is the city's governing body. The Council is made up of 5 persons, plus an elected Mayor, elected at large to serve 4 year terms.

Councilperson Judy Underwood

Judy Underwood served the City of Oneonta Police Department for 33 years, retiring as the Deputy Chief of Police in 2018.  She is married to Randy Underwood, a retired Crime Scene Investigator with the Birmingham Police Department. They have a daughter, two sons, two daughter-in-laws and a grandson.

Councilperson Sherry Pierce

Sherry Pierce is the owner of Klassy K9 & Sassy Kat Resort & Spa in downtown Oneonta. She is also a Certified Public Accountant with 25 years of experience. Sherry is a 1994 graduate of UAB and a 1990 graduate of Appalachian High School, where she was Valedictorian.

Councilperson Donald Bradley

Donald Bradley is a U.S. Navy veteran where he earned a National Defense Medal for his efforts during Desert Storm.

 

Donald is married to Dawn Bradley and they have five children: three boys and two girls. 

 

Donald is also a 28 year law enforcement professional. He recently retired from Vestavia Hills PD and is now now a Federal Police Officer with the VA. 

 

He and his family have lived in Oneonta since December, 2011 and he has served on the Blount County Youth Football Board and the Oneonta Park and Recreation Board.

Councilperson Lee Alexander

Lee Alexander is a long-time Oneonta resident whose family has called Blount County home for five generations. Lee is a graduate of Samford University with a degree in Organizational Leadership. He has held positions on various boards throughout the city such as the Blount County Children's Center and the Oneonta Historic Preservation Committee. 

Having owned Charlie B's Restaurant, an Oneonta lunchtime institution for two decades, Lee is a familiar face in the community. He looks forward to serving in this new capacity.

Councilperson Robbie McAlpine

Robbie McAlpine is a life long Oneonta native and small business owner for almost 20 years. He has three sons, Colton, Andrew and Gavin. Mr. McAlpine was elected to the Oneonta City School Board in 2008 and is now honored to be newly elected to the Oneonta City Council.

 

Robbie says "Oneonta is special in so many ways. It's an honor to serve the city and people who helped shaped who I am".
